How Strong is D9 THCP?

The powerful psychoactivity of D9 THCP is what makes it attractive to consumers. It has been found to be significantly more potent than delta 9 THC, with some studies suggesting it could be up to 33 times more potent.

However, it’s important to note that just because THCP has a higher binding affinity for CB1 receptors, it doesn’t necessarily mean its effects are 33 times stronger.

In fact, according to user reports, the effects of THCP are typically described as 5 to 10 times stronger than those of delta 9 THC.

How Is D9 THCP Made?

Currently, the FM2 strain is the first one with trace amounts of the THCP cannabinoid. As a result, producers of D9 THCP products need to produce them in a laboratory. Manufacturers make it from hemp with no more than 0.3 percent delta-9-THC for legalality purposes.

CBD is utilized as the beginning ingredient for the production of THCP, implying that it can be properly produced from hemp.

To get a cannabinoid-rich fraction of FM2, n-hexane is utilized to extract the raw material rather than ethanol, containing additional pollutants including flavonoids and chlorophylls.

To get clean cannabinoids to extract, a further dewaxing process at 20 °C for 48 hours and elimination of the precipitated wax was required. Eighty fractions were separated using semi-preparative liquid chromatography with a C18 stationary process.

In this way, the fractions containing primarily tetrahydrocannabipgorolic acid (THCPA) are heated at 120 °C for 2 hours to produce their corresponding neutral version called THCP as transparent oils with a purity of >95 percent.

What is D9 THCP Used For?

THCP is currently not being utilized much. This super-strong cannabinoid is difficult to find naturally in cannabis, and experts are still unsure about its purpose.

In the future, THCP, a phytocannabinoid like CBGP and CBCP, could have a significant impact on the global hemp industry. The pharmaceutical industry is seeking a reproducible, highly potent version of THC. Few phrases are more attractive to the pharmaceutical industry than “full neuroreceptor activation.”

At some point, phytocannabinoids like THCP may be used for all current applications of THC and CBD. Regardless of what happens, THCP is already a potent cannabinoid that stimulates your neuroreceptors more rapidly than regular versions. Isolated THCP is likely to become more prevalent in the future.
